At 02:25hrs units were disptached to assist MCFRS with a reported structure fire on Darby Rd. near State Highway 6. Upon arrival of MCFRS Engine 34 (OIC Sabrsula) a large 5000sq ft 2 story SFD at the end of a 500' driveway was found with heavy fire on Division 1 and Division 2 . Given the lack of hydrants, all occupants safely out and the extent of involvement , a defensive operation was initiated with initial line placement to prevent extention to the attached garage. Upon arrival of Battalion 31 (Wheeler) command was transferred and additional tanker resources requested from Pearland, Rosharon, Iowa Colony, Alvin, Manvel and Fairchild Fire Departments while a second line was stretched and dump tank operations begun. Upon arrival of Engine 21 (OIC Hargraves) an assignment to the Operations Branch (Faber) was given wih the crew hand stretching a 600' 3" Blitz Fire line to Division "B". With the establishment of drafting operations by SLFD Engine 3 (OIC Hopper) and the arrival of tanker resources allowing a consistent water supply, Engine 21 operated on Division "B" along with MCFRS Engine 34 and Quint 33 until the majority of the fire was knocked down after partial collapse of the structure. Upon rotation of crews due to the cold temps, Operations Branch was transferred to Engine 21 "A" and crews began extensive overhaul. After almost 3 hours operating on the fire ground, Engine 21 returned to service at 05:38hrs along with Battalion 21  (Bomberger) who functioned as the Incident Safety Officer for the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fort Bend County Fire Marshal's Office.
